National Anti-Bullying Awareness Month: STOMP Out Bullying

One out of four teens is bullied.

Chances are, you or someone you know may have faced some type of bullying. With the overwhelming popularity of social media, users have the power of anonymity which people take advantage of through cyber bullying. Most young students have an online presence and can easily be vulnerable to cyber bullies. Though this type of bullying may not be physical, it can do the same damage to one’s emotional and mental state. STOMP Out Bullying is a leading organization dedicated to combating bullying and cyberbullying. Through social media campaigns, celebrity endorsements, public service announcements and other resources, STOMP Out Bullying works to educate students, victims, bullies, and families.

STOMP Out Bullying acknowledges that bullying is not only traumatic, but that it has driven students to depression, substance abuse, and suicide. In order to combat the devastating outcomes of bullying, they have provided a HelpChat Line available to any students who are in need of professional guidance. In addition, they have listed different hotlines that are available 24/7.

One is too many. If you or anyone you know is in need of help, please take advantage of the HelpChat Line or any of their hotlines.

We would like to thank STOMP Out Bullying for educating and promoting the societal responsibility every student has to prevent or stop bullying in all forms. Gladeo is a firm believer in encouraging the youth to bring each other up instead of putting each other down.

“...Adults must empower the victims and help change the behavior of the bullies. Schools must react swiftly and redirect negative behaviors into positive and productive solutions.
Bystanders who witness the assaults, harassment and threats must not remain silent. They must stand up for victims.
Parents must teach their kids and teens kindness, compassion and respect and schools must do the same. Our kids and teens need to know they are valued and protected…”
