The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) is a leading charitable organization of the entertainment industry that harnesses the collective power of the entire industry to raise awareness and funds for critical health, educational and social issues in order to make a positive impact in our community and throughout the nation.
One of EIF’s programs, the Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) movement, was founded in 2008 by leaders in the media, entertainment, and philanthropic industries. SU2C has raised more than $100 million, funding five ‘Dream Teams’ of over 200 exemplary scientists working on producing results to benefit patients within the grant’s three-year term.
And that’s just one of their many initiatives.
Through iParticipate, EIF has mobilized the entertainment industry around a multi-year service initiative to encourage Americans to volunteer and serve in their communities. EIF’s National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance focuses on eradicating colorectal cancer by promoting the importance of early medical screening and funding the research for development of improved tests, treatments, and ultimately, a cure. The Women’s Cancer Programs funds the development of a blood test for early detection and have more effective, less toxic treatments for breast cancer. Every year, EIF runs the EIF/ Revlon Walk for Women Run, the largest single-day women’s cancer fundraiser in the country. The Diabetes Aware campaign informs Americans about the importance of detection, monitoring, and proper management of the disease.
Familiar names have also provided their time, talent, and wealth to create positive impacts in society. EIF is dedicated to the advancement of thoughtful and effective philanthropy in the industry by offering high caliber professional charitable services including Black Eyed Peas’ Peapod Foundation, Christina Applegate’s Right Action for Women, Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach Project, and John Legend’s Show Me Campaign.
By using the power of the celebrity world, EIF has raised awareness for important health and social issues. This year, we conducted an interview with one of EIF's most passionate and dedicated staff members. Misty Espinoza, VP of Communications, was generous enough to be featured in our #CareerHighlights series. To celebrate December as the month of #Giving, Gladeo is proud to recognize a fellow non-profit organization dedicated to making positive a impact on society.
“My favorite thing is that I am right in the intersection of the nonprofit world and the entertainment industry. I work with people who are very committed to use their power for good so people can have someone to look up to and say ‘wow, my situation can change’, that’s important.”
