#HispanicHeritageMonth - Eva Longoria

“I’m trying to do my part as a citizen. My part as a Hispanic. My part as a woman. As an American. I enjoy it. I think everybody should be civically engaged in a level that will affect policy.” - Eva Longoria

Eva Jacqueline Longoria is a successful actress, producer, and businesswoman, recognizable for her portrayal as Gabrielle Solis on Desperate Housewives from 2004 to 2012. Born in March 1975, Eva grew up in Texas, working at a local Wendy's before she won Miss Corpus Christi in 1998. With hard work and dedication, she continued to participate in talent contests, which eventually led her to Los Angeles for a new career.

Aside from acting, Longoria holds is the Executive Producer for the hit show, Devious Maids, a comedy-drama featuring an all-Latina cast. As a leader of the Latina Community, she launched the Eva Longoria Foundation in 2012, which focuses on empowering Latinas through education and entrepreneurship. Eva took inspiration from her foundation, her interest in immigration, and her passion for political activism to earn a degree while working. While filming Desperate Housewives, Eva attended classes at California State University, Northridge and soon earned her Master's Degree in Chicano Studies in 2013.

"The growing Latina population is an untapped resource in this country. If we give Latinas the tools to unlock their potential, we will see amazing results." - Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria takes advantage of her platform to show her support for the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, OmniPeace, Project HOME, the CARE Act and even served as an executive producer for The Harvest—a documentary about child migrant farmworkers in the US. She founded the Latino Victory Project, a movement dedicated to building political power within the Latino community.

This month, Gladeo is proud to honor Eva Longoria as a National Hispanic Heritage Month icon for her dedication, determination, and leadership for the Latino community.
