April is #NationalPoetryMonth !

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” '

Happy April! In 1996, the Academy of American Poets inaugurated National Poetry Month to encourage appreciation for poetry and spread awareness of this art. This month marks its 20th anniversary, and over the years it has become the biggest literary celebration across the globe.

We are happy to announce that this month, the Gladeo League will be producing content that will feature iconic poets and poems that have influenced our message and made an impact in society!

In remembrance of Maya Angelou, Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson, and other famous poets, we hope to highlight their art and achievements this April. Gladeo promotes thinkers- individuals who are willing to make positive changes in the world; and it can all start with words.

Keep updated as members of the Gladeo League post new every week for the month of April. Please join us on social media as we use the hashtag, #NationalPoetryMonth.

We hope this celebration inspires you to channel your creative abilities into art!

And in honor of Robin Williams and a movie that was extremely influential in the poetry community, we will begin and end with a Dead Poets Society quotation.

"No matter what anyone tells you, words and ideas can change the world."
